Storytrace is made by Guillaume Hervouet. This policy explains exactly what leaves your phone. It is short because very little does.
Storytrace has no sign-up, no login, and no user accounts. We do not know who you are. There is no Storytrace server holding your data, which means we cannot read your progress even if we wanted to — we do not have it.
Everything you do in the app — the cases you have read, the cards you have earned, your answers, your streak, your settings — is stored only on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
Two third-party services receive limited, anonymous information.
We record seventeen events, and only these:
Each event carries an anonymous case identifier (for example s079), a chapter number, and counters. Automatic tap-capture is switched off, and there is no session recording of any kind.
The five purchase events also carry the name of the plan — monthly, yearly, or lifetime. They never carry anything about your payment: we do not receive your card, and we do not receive the amount.
For searches, we send only the length of what you typed and the number of results — never the words themselves.
PostHog derives an approximate location — country and region — from the IP address your connection presents. The app itself never asks your device for a location, and we never receive a precise one.
The app itself never collects your name, your email, your phone number, your contacts, your location, or any advertising identifier. The one place we can receive an email address is the support form, and only because you typed it there — see Support messages below.
When the app crashes, we receive a technical report: device model, operating system version, app version, and where in the code the failure happened. Personally identifiable information is explicitly disabled.
There is no advertising in Storytrace, and no advertising SDK. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone, and we never will.
If you subscribe, the payment is handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your card, your billing address, or your payment details. We only receive confirmation from the store that a subscription is active.
Our support page offers two ways to reach us: a plain email link, and a form. Both end in the same personal inbox.
If you use the form, what you typed — your email address, your message, and optionally your device model — passes through FormSubmit, a relay service that turns the submission into an email. It is needed because these pages are static and cannot send mail on their own. FormSubmit holds the message only long enough to forward it.
If you use the email link instead, nothing passes through any third party: your own mail app sends the message directly.
Either way, your address is used to answer you and for nothing else. It is never added to a mailing list — there is no mailing list. Ask us to delete a support exchange and we will delete it.
Storytrace is rated for everyone, but it is written for adults and older teenagers. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the new version appears here before it takes effect.
